Capturing Love as a London Proposal Photographer - Greenwich Park

As a London proposal photographer, I have the privilege of witnessing some of life’s most emotional and beautiful moments—but few were quite as touching as Murray’s surprise proposal at Greenwich Park.

From our very first conversation, I could sense just how much love and thought Murray was putting into this proposal. He was selfless, sincere, and determined to create the perfect memory for his girlfriend. He’d already chosen the location: the iconic One Tree Hill in Greenwich Park, one of the most scenic places to propose in London. But he also wanted to respect his girlfriend’s wish for a more private moment—something away from the usual crowd.

Planning the Perfect London Proposal

As a professional photographer for proposals in London, part of my job is helping plan the timing, location, and feel of each session. With Greenwich Park being a popular tourist spot, we decided to scout a quieter spot just off the main view, still capturing the incredible London skyline.

Leading up to the proposal, the weather forecast was less than promising. Murray even considered changing locations. But I encouraged him to hold off and reassured him that we'd make it work. Just as we hoped, the skies cleared, and the day arrived with full sun—ideal for a romantic London engagement photography session.

A Unique Touch – Including Their Dog in the Proposal

One of the most exciting parts of this shoot? Murray and his girlfriend brought along their fluffy companion, Pablo. It was my first time photographing a London proposal with a dog, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. Including pets in proposal sessions is always a beautiful personal touch that adds to the authenticity of the moment.

They took the scenic Uber Boat from their Airbnb in Westminster to Greenwich, building up the anticipation of the big moment. I arrived early at One Tree Hill and kept an eye on the crowd. As soon as they reached the location, we realized it was a bit too busy. Respecting his girlfriend’s preference for privacy, Murray subtly led her to a quieter spot on the hill.

Capturing the Moment

Pretending to be just another tourist with a camera, I followed them discreetly. In an open space like Greenwich Park, it’s a bit of a challenge to stay unnoticed, but I carefully moved around, taking candid shots of the area and them from a distance.

Once they reached a serene spot with a beautiful backdrop, I gave Murray the signal—we were good to go.

Murray approached me to take a photo with his phone, which was our cue. Despite his girlfriend’s initial hesitation (she wasn’t too keen on being photographed), he gently convinced her. I snapped a quick photo and handed the phone back. That’s when it happened.

He got down on one knee.

She was completely caught off guard. Their dog, Pablo, bounced around them excitedly, adding even more joy to the scene. It was raw, emotional, and real—everything a heartfelt proposal should be.

A Picture-Perfect Ending

Murray had hoped to involve Pablo in the proposal with a trick he’d taught him, but Pablo had other plans! Ever the loyal protector, Pablo was too distracted by my presence to perform. However, once he warmed up to me, we tried again—and nailed it. It was one of the sweetest images from the day, showing the beautiful bond between this couple and their pup.

This kind of intimate, meaningful proposal is exactly why I love what I do. Being a proposal and engagement photographer in London is about so much more than just taking pictures—it's about preserving once-in-a-lifetime memories.
