Brogan & Alice creating magic at their Kew Gardens Proposal

When Brogan reached out to me, he had one goal — to propose to his girlfriend, Alice — but no idea where or how. Like many of my proposal clients, he turned to my portfolio and Instagram for inspiration. After browsing through my favorite hidden gems across London, he was captivated by the elegant beauty of the Temple of Aeolus, the stunning dome perched on a hill inside Kew Gardens. It’s secluded, romantic, and gets the dreamiest light — a perfect setting for a surprise proposal.

As a proposal photographer in London, I don’t just show up with my camera — I help you plan every detail. Kew Gardens can be a maze, so I sent Brogan a custom map with the best route, ensuring he and Alice wouldn’t spot me in hiding before the big moment.

Going the Extra Mile: Setting the Scene

Brogan wanted to go beyond the classic kneel-and-ask. He envisioned a romantic setup with a “Marry Me” sign, soft lights, and heart-shaped details. While I typically focus solely on photography, I loved his vision so much that I agreed to help. He shipped the props to my house, and my husband Declan and I headed to Kew Gardens early to set it all up — lights, signage, the works. It became our own mini-date, setting the stage for someone else’s love story.

As we set up, curious passersby stopped to admire the romantic scene — strangers rooting for a moment they didn’t even know was about to happen. It was pure magic.

The Moment She Said Yes

Once Brogan and Alice arrived at Kew Gardens, he discreetly texted me that they were on their way up the hill. Declan and I ducked into some nearby bushes — part of the charm of being a proposal photographer in London is knowing the best hide-and-shoot spots!

Alice, stunning in a long black dress, had no clue. She’d been told they were heading to a work dinner — even Brogan’s colleagues were in on it. When she saw the glowing lights and the “Marry Me” sign, she was overwhelmed with emotion. And just as Brogan got down on one knee, I captured her reaction: the tears, the joy, and the sheer surprise. These are the moments that make my job so incredibly meaningful.

Capturing Post-Proposal Bliss

After the proposal, the couple shared laughs, hugs, and a flurry of “How did you pull this off?” questions. We wandered through the garden’s lush greenery, soaking in the golden hour light that bathed everything in a soft, dreamy glow.

As a London engagement and proposal photographer, I live for moments like these — real, raw, and filled with genuine emotion.
